What They Get Right

There’s much to praise here, so let’s get to it. The first thing you’ll notice is that you now what you’re getting. No mystery, no concealed dosages, just an easy to read label that spells it all out.

  • Glutamine – The backbone of very good recovery supplement. Glutamine is found in your muscles, and the amount gets depleted during your workout, leading to a loss of power and stamina, among other things. Your body replenishes glutamine on its own, but that can sometimes take awhile. Powerbuild has got 5 g of glutamine, which is a good, solid amount. This amount alone already does plenty to ensure a good recovery.
  • Leucine – Another common ingredient in numerous supplements, L-leucine is one of the three branched chain amino acids that helps stimulate muscle protein synthesis. BCAA’s help to build tissue and prevent lean mass from being broken down, helping you develop lean muscle and definition at a faster rate. Powerbuild has got a whopping 4 g of leucine, which exceeds the recommended dosage of around 2.5 g. You’ll notice it.
  • Betaine Anhydrous – Betaine anhydrous helps to promote muscle synthesis in the body, while also aiding in cell production, delaying post-workout fatigue, and protecting your kidneys and liver. A good dosage amount is 2.5 g, which is right where Powerbuild arrives at.
  • Beta-Alanine – Beta-alanine increases carnosine levels in your muscles, blocking that ever-familiar burning effect you feel towards the end of your sets, and thus allowing you to go longer and harder. What They Got Wrong

Powerbuild is a solid product, but there is always room for improvement.

  • Like many supplements, this mix falls short in the taste area. This never seems like a big deal initially, but you may find yourself fairly put off over the long term. So it goes.
  • Also, what’s the deal with so many supplements now offering just 20 servings per tub? 30 is always the logical amount per tub. Powerbuild should consider changing this.

Now, about the creatine. You can have too much of a good thing, and it just so happens that you’ll find creatine in just about every reputable pre-workout supplement — if you’re into such things…and you probably are. Powerbuild has a lot of creatine monohydrate. 3 g to be exact. A lot of pre-workout supplements have around the same amount, or maybe 1.5 g to 2 g. Take them back to back, and you’re pretty overloaded, and possibly feeling like crap.

Powerbuild is a great product, so you may want to change the dosage or brand of your pre-workout supplement. On the bright side, Powerbuild happens to have a better dosage than many of the ingredients found in pre-workout supplements, so you may be able to simplify things a bit and focus on a pre-workout supplement that is more energy-based.
