But how does it hold up in actual workouts? To find out, this review will take a close look at the way the system is supposed to work.

What is This Program about and Who is it For?

As the name makes pretty clear, Beast Body or Body Beast is all about giving you a powerful physique, burning the fat and calories so you end up with a muscular, sculpted body similar to what you’d get in the gym, except you’ll be working out at home without paying for the services of a personal trainer.

The program is designed primarily for men but women can modify some of the workouts to suit them, and it’s particularly effective when combined with the nutrition guide. On the surface, this probably looks like one of the many high intensity interval training available online, but on a closer inspection you’ll see that it’s very different.

What Workouts are Included in the Program?

This Body Beast workout review will start by explaining what the program contains, 12 DVDs divided into three phases:

  • Build Phase: these are the basic workout routines and are necessary for laying down the basis for mass and strength gain. This is also where you’ll be doing Sagi’s Giant and Super Sets.
  • Bulk Phase: this one focuses on muscular hypertrophy, which is the scientific term for enlarging muscle cells and stimulating muscle growth. Basically what you’ll be doing here is perform Force, Combo, Progressive and Multi-sets that will expand upon the gains you gained in the previous phase. Do keep in mind that cardio is not performed during the Bulk Phase.
  • Beast Phase: it’s here at the Beast Phase you’ll be doing cardio alongside a combination of the Build and Bulk workouts. During the Beast Phase you’ll focus on burning fat to get Body Beast lean results as well as high intensity core workouts. There is emphasis on nutrition and increasing your lifting weight capacity so your muscles get larger and more defined.


  • Beast Body

The program has two schedules: Lean Beast and Huge Beast, and the biggest difference between the two is the amount of cardio you’ll be doing.

  • If your objective is to gain mass, go for the Huge Beast, where there is less focus on cardio
  • If your objective is to burn fat, try the Lean Beast as it focuses on more on cardio and workouts that burn calories

What is Dynamic Set Training?

Any Body Beast review bodybuilding will inevitably mention this because it’s the centerpiece. Briefly: Dynamic Set Training consists of set progressions, a sequence of sets and reps that optimizes your muscles’ time under pressure and tension, with the objective being to tire out your muscles and produce more muscle fiber.

Dynamic Set Training also enhances your body’s testosterone production.  Testosterone is one of the hormones responsible for producing muscle mass, so the more your body generates the faster your muscles will grow. What this means is rather than do 3 sets with 8 reps, you perform a Progressive set where the weight goes up as the reps go down.

For example, if you typically do 3 sets of 8 shoulder presses with 30 lb. weights, in Body Beast you’ll do 15 reps at 25 pounds, 12 reps at 30 lbs. 8 reps at 35 lbs. and so on. Once you perform these sets, you’ll do them again but in reverse this time. Following these you might also do a Force or Multi-set consisting of 5 sets and 5 reps with very little break.

What are the Other Workouts on the DVDs?

Here’s a brief overview of the exercise progressions in the program:

  • WorkoutsSingle sets: one exercise
  • Super sets: two exercises done without any breaks
  • Giant sets: three exercise routines done without any break and focus on one muscle group
  • Multi-Sets: three exercises that work on different muscle groups
  • Force sets: five sets with five reps, and you rest for 10 seconds
  • Progressive sets: this is a pyramid set that starts with a high number of reps and goes down gradually. As the reps go down however, the weights get heavier and you only take a short break. Once you reach the bottom of the pyramid, you go back up and perform the sets and reps in reverse.
  • Combo sets: these are compound workouts that exercise more than a single muscle group using at least two joints
  • Circuit sets: these require you to move from one exercise to another quickly with very little break
  • Tempo sets: requires you to maintain a contraction for a specific amount of time to be followed by action

As you can see there are a lot of workouts that need to be performed, and your body has to constantly adapt to the changes. Second, the exercises fully optimize your body movement so you’re not wasting any movement. On average you’ll be working out 40 minutes a day for 6 days a week.

In other words, you’ll be doing a lot of workouts, but you don’t have to put in hours every day just to get in shape. As it is, the exercises will get you in shape even with less than hour daily because they have been fully optimized, and it should also be pointed out that the nutritional guide is just as informative and important.


As Beast Body reviews have made clear, this workout program is for those who are serious about getting in shape. The fact that it was developed by a real bodybuilder and professional trainer means it’s reliable, and testimonials point out its efficiency. The workouts won’t produce results overnight –and the program doesn’t claim to- but if you’re willing to persevere, you’re going to get the desired results. So does Body Beast really work?
